More sources confirm that only the iPhone 14 Pro series has the new A16 Bionic chip

In a report focused on global smartphone production, TrendForce briefly mentioned that Apple plans to launch four new iPhone 14 models in the second half of 2022, but said that only Pro models will be equipped next generation microprocessor.

The report combines with information shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in March stated that only the iPhone 14 Pro models will be equipped with the Apple A16 chip , while the iPhone 14 and iPhone models The standard 14 Plus  still uses the same A15 chip as the previous generation. In his April Power On newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman also agreed that the standard iPhone 14 models "are likely to use last year's A15 chip or a variant thereof."

Gurman said that "in addition to trying to make the iPhone 14 Pro models stand out" , the ongoing chip shortage may have contributed to Apple's decision to use the old processor for the standard iPhone 1 models. This will be different from Apple's current strategy of equipping all high-end iPhones with the same chip. For example, iPhone 13 mini , iPhone 13 , iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are all equipped with the same A15 chip.

Apple is expected to announce its iPhone 14 lineup at its annual event in September. Stay tuned!
